Curriculum Overview

We intend our curriculum to support the Trust ambition that we 'inspire learners and change lives'.

At Maldon Primary, our vision is to broaden the horizon of future possibilities and raise aspiration. Our curriculum is driven with a desire for pupils to leave Maldon Primary School with high ambition. They will be resilient, inquisitive learners and responsible and valued members of the community.

Core Principles:
  • Honest
  • Respectful
  • Hardworking

The curriculum learning within the context of our school provides active learning experiences, allowing pupils to build the confidence and resilience in order to take risks in  a safe and engaging environment thus inspiring independent, critical thinkers.
Every child is recognised as a valued individual and our curriculum recognises prior learning and prior experiences as a starting point.   Pupils become the best versions of themselves through high expectations. The curriculum encourages responsibility promoting the best possible progress, allowing pupils to achieve their potential.  A range of immersive and holistic learning approaches provide context and enrichment opportunities to enhance the classroom learning.

Our core values promote positive learning behaviours.

We have a clear focus on English and Maths ensuring that our pupils can access the wider curriculum and are best placed for the next stage of their journey. Pupils at Maldon Primary School enjoy a broad curriculum. We offer Spanish as our Modern Foreign Language as it is a phonetic language. This means that the Spanish pronunciation of letters are, apart from some a few exceptions, always pronounced in the same way.

Community partnerships are an important part of our curriculum. Visitors and families are invited into school to facilitate learning new skills and experiences as well as celebrating learning achievements.

Pupils leave Maldon Primary School with a clear sense of responsibility for themselves and their community. They demonstrate the confidence to make decisions and reflect on their choices.  They make links through the curiosity to ask questions, digging deeper in their knowledge and understanding with the view of achieving their ambition.
