Intent

Our Art curriculum aims to nurture a love of Art through mastering a range of learning opportunities that will enable the children to explore and develop
their ideas and to evaluate and develop their work. Through creating a safe and nurturing environment, pupils are encouraged to take creative risks and to learn from the journey.

Implementation

Teachers use the Kapow scheme for planning. This includes a whole-school overview, art year progression document planning for each area and includes key vocabulary.
Each topic shows previous learning and learning that will progress throughout the school. The resources included are suitable for pupils of all abilities, and can be confidently delivered by specialist and non-specialist teachers.

Impact

Our art curriculum is high quality, well thought out and demonstrates progression. Self evaluation and formative assessments take place regularly throughout units, highlighting areas which need further development.  Through  open-ended activities, pupils explore their own creativity.

We measure impact through:

  • Staff confidence questionnaires
  • Pupil assessments
  • Pupil voice questionnaires
  • Pupil engagement
