DT
Intent
Our DT curriculum aims to nurture a love of DT through mastering a range of learning opportunities that will enable the children to explore and develop their ideas and to evaluat-e and develop their work. By using creativity and imagination, pupils will design and make products that solve real and relevant problems, within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values.
Implementation
Teachers use the Kapow scheme for planning. This includes a whole-school overview, DT year progression document planning for each area and includes key vocabulary.
Each topic shows previous learning and learning that will progress throughout the school. Pupils will take a ‘Design, Make, Evaluate’ approach and be actively engaged in their learning
Impact
Our DT curriculum is high quality, well thought out and demonstrates progression. Self evaluation and formative assessments take place regularly throughout units, highlighting areas which need further development. Children develop a critical understanding of the impact of DT on daily life and the wider world.
We measure impact through:
- Staff confidence questionnaires
- Pupil assessments
- Pupil voice questionnaires
- Pupil engagement
