Intent

Our MFL - Spanish  curriculum aims to nurture a love of languages through mastering skills in speaking, reading and writing underpinned by the exploration of grammar. We aim for children to develop their independence, be active in their learning and build solid language learning foundations at primary level so a passion for languages and subsequent linguistic success will follow.

Implementation

Teachers have access to planning via Language Angels.  All teachers have access to a folder that includes a whole-school overview and Spanish year progression document. Each topic shows previous learning and learning that will progress throughout the school.
Unit planning and resources for each area is available on Language Angels and includes key vocabulary and grammatical support.

Impact

Our Spanish curriculum is high quality, well thought out and demonstrates progression. Formative assessments takes place regularly throughout units, showing any areas which need further development.  


We measure impact through:

  • Staff confidence questionnaires
  • Pupil voice questionnaires
  • Pupil engagement
